I have been drawn into the field of mathematics education progressively through my life. The more I teach, the more I appreciate the art. I currently teach mathematics in the Upgrading and University Preparation Department at the University of the Fraser Valley where I enjoy helping adults learn about mathematics. My master’s thesis, Experiencing a Flipped Mathematics Class, provided me with an opportunity to explore student autonomy in the context of a flipped classroom. This research experience was so reifying for me as a teacher, that it inspired me to pursue further research opportunities within the Mathematics Education PhD program at Simon Fraser University.
